The Relationship between Place and Religion
In 2001, we established the North American Religion Atlas (NARA) as one of the first web-based GIS sites for the humanities. NARA contained county-level data on religious adherence, and these data constitute the largest set of adherence data available for American religion at the time. NARA was used by numerous researchers and in a significant number of university and seminary courses.
The authors of the Religion by Region nine-volume series used NARA data and maps to explore how religion shapes and is being shaped by regional culture in America. The Religion by Region book series is available for purchase through AltaMira Press, A Division of Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc.
